Phil Reynolds to present at Academy Financial Management Conference
PLR Advisory are pleased to announce that CEO and Director, Phil Reynolds, will be presenting a workshop on “Developing a Centralised Approach to Multi Academy Trust Financial Management” at the upcoming virtual Academy Financial Management Conference 2022 on 27 April 2022.
The workshop will look at the following:
- Adopting a core and shared philosophy on centralised finances among all schools involved
- Outlining models of GAG pooling: tips for deciding the best approach for your Trust
- Barriers to pooling funds and key solutions to overcome them
- Ensuring that tools and systems used to aid centralisation to evolve according to the Trust’s changing needs
In addition, the event will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear the latest policy and guidance on managing school and academy finances. Attendees will also be able to share their experiences in improving academy funding and finance through networking with senior colleagues.
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the landscape of financial management for academies and trusts. While schools have been able to make some savings on maintenance and supply costs, many have also faced an increase in expenditure from investing heavily in technology to limit disruption to pupils’ education. Additionally, school closures have meant there have been fewer opportunities for income generation, negatively impacting revenue and financial planning. In August 2021, the Education and Skills Funding Agency released new guidance stating that academies can expect tougher checks on their finances, including “more detailed questioning” from auditors following recent high-profile auditing scandals. In light of these challenges, academy leaders must reassess their approach to finances and securing funding in order to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
