GAG pooling - what, how and why?

13th Apr 2022

GAG pooling is one of the hottest topics in the academies sector. But there is little guidance on the subject even though it is championed by the ESFA. This is perhaps why only 14% of the sector have adopted the pooling model per the latest Kreston Academies Benchmark Report.

As such, many Trusts tend to continue to operate using the current and preferred “top slice” methodology. But have you considered that it may actually be stunting your Trust growth?

At PLR Advisory we have advised and supported Trusts looking to adopt a GAG pooling model.

That is why we have developed a factsheet (free to download below) that focusses on GAG pooling - what it is, how it can be implemented and why it may well benefit your multi-academy trust moving forward.

The factsheet covers the following areas:

  • culture change
  • top slicing - a hindrance to growth?
  • expanding your MAT
  • how to achieve GAG pooling
  • what funding can be included
  • the step process to take
  • how it looks in reality
  • what the ESFA don't tell you
  • the positives and negatives of adopting the model

If you would like to discuss the concept of the GAG pooling methodology further then please get in touch by booking a discovery call today.
